Thurrock couple’s day out turned into a cruise

Alison and Keith Gray who live in Thurrock Park close to the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury visited the port last weekend 17 -18 September as part of the Community Day activities and walked away with a free cruise! Cruise and Maritime Voyages, who have been instrumental in the growth of cruise business at the port, were taking part in the event and offered a cruise as the top prize in the Port of Tilbury’s raffle.

Alison Gray told CMV that they had intended to book a cruise from the local port and had gone along to the CMV stand to chat with the company cruise staff. You can imagine her surprise when she and her husband picked up complimentary tickets for a cruise. They plan to sail on CMV’s new fleet edition Columbus to the Norwegian Fjords next year. The happy couple have lived in Thurrock Park for over 30 years, and are said to be pleased as they are almost within walking distance of the cruise terminal. They had been to both days of the event in the afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the open top bus ride around the immediate area.

Miranda Coates, from CMV said “This is great story that together with the local port we have been able to work together in growing local business and bring affordable cruising to thousands of local people. Columbus will join Magellan, Marco Polo and Astoria in the CMV fleet in June next year so Alison & Keith are in for a real treat.”
