CMV helping students with Astoria visit

Cruise and Maritime Voyages was playing host this week (18 April) to a group of Travel & Tourism students from Kingston College in Surrey, on board their cruise ship Astoria at the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury. Some thirty students and teachers toured the classic ocean liner in between two of her Norwegian  Fjords cruises, learning about the cruise business and the CMV product offering.

Miranda Coates, HR Manager at CMV’s head office based in Purfleet said, “The timing of our first student visit this year, comes at an exciting time; we have just announced new extra sailings on Astoria from Poole and Portsmouth in 2018, the first time using these UK departure points for CMV. We also took delivery last week of our latest fleet addition Columbus, launching in June this year”.

The students were hosted by Demi Starck and Karen Kempster from CMV’s HR Team who talked to the group about career pathways in the Cruise industry and work experience opportunities, while students were treated to tea and coffee in the delightful Sirenes Bar. They then embarked on a tour of the 550 passenger ship, led by Olga Usik (CMV’s on board Guest Services Host), and the students were given a valuable insight into the workings and facilities on board this popular cruise ship. They finished by enjoying a delicious three course lunch.

The visit was the first of five student visits planned this year. Other visits will take place on both Magellan and the latest vessel Columbus when CMV will showcase more of their fleet of ships to Travel & Tourism students from Essex, Kent and the London area.
