Profile

  • All certificates and licenses as required by the STCW Code for this position
  • Knowledge of the applicable codes, guidelines and standards
  • Large-scale knowledge of English
  • Well acquainted with the Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Management System & MLC requirements
  • Minimum of seagoing experience as A/C Engineer for at least 2 years on board the vessels type or other adequate experience (unless decided different by the company)
  • Minimum 10 years ship’s experience.
  • It is recommended to have USPH, Coast Guard & UK MCA Port State Control experience

Specific Duties/Responsibilities and Activities

  • In charge of AC & Reefer Plants
  • In charge of maintaining all fan rooms in good order
  • In charge of all fire dampers
  • Assist in the cleaning of galley duct ( Smothering)
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment within passenger cabins, public areas and hotel service areas
  • Executing maintenance works and repairs of equipment (galley, restaurants, bars, laundry, toilet vacuum system, air condition plant, ventilation plant, fire flaps etc.), as instructed
  • Reporting executed maintenance to the Chief or Staff Engineer for entry into the planned maintenance system
  • Has to adopt safe working practices
  • Is in charge of prompt repair of any defects reported within the passenger cabins, public areas and hotel service areas
  • Notifies the Staff or 1st Engineer immediately of any defects which may affect the ship’s safety or put a risk on the marine environment
  • Properly keeps the necessary documentation
  • Supervising and assisting other persons allocated to work with him
  • Carries out any other duties, assigned to him by the Chief Engineer
  • Monitors technical performance of the ship

Authority: Proposes any changes with respect to the SMS

Substitute: 1st Engineer

Reporting to: Chief or Staff Engineer

Passenger Service

Ensures that AVO jobs are carried out

Management

He participates in Weekly Public Health Inspections.

He reports all defects and deficiencies aboard his ship to the Chief or Staff Engineer.
