Profile
- All certificates and licenses as required by the STCW Code for this position
- Watch keeping license
- Acquainted with the relevant parts of the Safety, Health and Environmental Protection Management System & MLC requirement
- Adequate knowledge of English
- Minimum of several months of seagoing experience as Cadet or other adequate experience (unless decided different by the company
Specific Duties/Responsibilities and Activities:
- Proper keeping of a navigational watch as per instructions of the Officer on Watch
- General bridge duties as defined by the Staff Captain
- Carrying out navigational watches as lookout or helmsmen, if certified accordingly
- Under supervision correction and maintenance of the nautical charts and publications
- Under supervision voyage planning
- Assisting the safety officer in familiarisation of the crew and safety training
- Under supervision of the Safety Officer taking care of maintenance and completeness of life-saving and firefighting equipment
- Carrying out duties on manoeuvring stations, as instructed by superiors
- Carrying out maintenance of deck equipment under supervision of the relevant officers
- Assisting in tender operation (driving and loading the tender, if certificate is available)
- Any other duties assigned by the Staff Captain
- Part of the Safety, Health & Environmental Protection Management System
- Has to participate in all safety routines, drills and training measures
- Reports defects/Deficiencies/Damage to the Deck officer & Staff Captain.
- Ensures that Hazardous situations are identified in his department and dealt with
